Neslted in the heart of Switzerland's southern Alps, and just a stones throw away from Italy, lie two of the country's most precious jewels, the alpine villages of Zermatt and Saas Fee.
To many people, Zermatt hardly needs an introduction. Its strategic location at the base of the iconic Matterhorn makes it one of the most photographed vilages in the Alps. Horse drawn carriages transport guests to sophisticated restaurants and hotels, alphorn blowers serenade newly arrived guests, and mountain enthusiasts cajole over glasses of fendant and bubbling pots of fondue. Zermatt is a magical place where people from all walks of life, from the extremely sporting to the insanely chic, come together to enjoy everything wonderful about the Alps.
Just around the corner lies another little town that we consider one of Switzerland's best kept secrets, Saas Fee. Dubbed "The Pearl of the Alps" by the Swiss, Saas Fee sees surprisingly little tourism when compared with its popular sibling up the road. The mountains are no less spectacular though. In fact, a third of Switzerland's tallest peaks lie just outside Saas Fee's door. Add sophisticated restaurants and myriad hikes, and Saas Fee easily stands in a league of its own. Over time, we disovered that bringing these towns together feels like a match made in heaven. Like fine wine and perfectly ripened cheese, some things are simply made to go together.
