Dave Chew hails from Brisbane, Australia, where he spent most of his childhood with his outdoorsy family camping, hiking, sailing and adventuring in the outback. After obtaining a mechanical engineering degree at the University of Queensland, he moved to Austria for three years to pursue outdoor adventures. In 2006, he took a trip to Telluride, Colorado for what he thought would be just a ski season but was instantly smitten with the majestic San Juan Mountains. At the end of the winter a friend took him to the Southwest desert on a weekend climbing trip. He fell in love with rock climbing and the lifestyle that ensued. Dave spent the following years gallivanting around the globe, hiking and climbing anything that was visually appealing. Employed with Ryder Walker Alpine Adventures and Telluride Mountain Guides for over 4 years, Dave has acquired an Avalanche I and WFR certificate to round out his ability to safely guide clients in the mountains on skis, rope or by foot.
