On the Trail with Ryder-Walker
Over the past few weeks, our guides and guests have been exploring the mountain villages and dramatic landscapes of Northern Greece, the coastal trails of Portugal, the remote Andean peaks of Peru, and the rugged coastlines and hills of Wales.
We asked a few of our guides to share moments from the trail along with some favorite photos from recent departures. Here’s a look at where Ryder-Walker travelers have been hiking lately and a few dates already open for 2027.
Northern Greece: Meteora, Zagori's Vikos Gorge & Dragon Lake

One of the most memorable days on this trip was a hike through the Zagori villages, following old stone paths and crossing arched bridges tucked deep in the Pindus Mountains. Around one final corner, our host Michael was waiting with a shaded picnic filled with homemade pies, fresh cheeses, vegetables, and local specialties. Between the dramatic scenery of the Vikos Gorge, the monasteries of Meteora, and moments shared together along the trail, Northern Greece has a way of staying with you long after the trip ends.
One of my favorite parts of this trek is the ancient villages we visit, and seeing the incredible stone architecture, old bridges, and mountain paths that have connected these communities for centuries. Join me next year and let me share this incredible corner of the world with you. — Niko Marković, Lead Guide

Portugal: The Southwestern Scenic Coastal Trek

The Atlantic was never far away from us on this trip, whether hiking above the cliffs or arriving into small fishing villages along the coast. One of our favorite days was the walk from Vila Nova de Milfontes to Almograve, ending with sangria at a beach bar after a long day on the trail. The combination of blue skies, ocean air, quiet paths, and relaxed evenings made this route hard to leave behind.
Portugal has a way of slowing everything down in the best possible way — long coastal walks, relaxed evenings overlooking the Atlantic, incredible local food, and the easy rhythm of life along the trail make this one of my favorite places to hike. — Dave Gruss, Senior Lead Guide

Peru: Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu

So many aspects of this trip were memorable, including waking to clear mornings beneath snow-covered peaks, evenings spent relaxing at the lodges, and finally arriving at Machu Picchu. Beyond the dramatic scenery, our group connected deeply with the rhythm of life in the Andes and the quiet moments shared together along the trail. The combination of towering mountains, remote villages, and Inca history created an unforgettable journey everyone will treasure for years to come.

Wales Walking Tour: Castles, Coastlines & Peaks

We had a successful inaugural trek, and in typical Wales fashion the weather seemed to change by the hour, from dramatic coastal skies to sunshine breaking across the hills and mountains. We even had a welcoming rainbow upon arrival. Long evenings in the villages, castle views, puffins along the coast, and more sheep than anyone could count made this journey especially memorable. More than anything, it was the warmth and humor of the Welsh people that stayed with the group long after the hikes ended.
Come experience the mythical land of Wales for yourself. It’s an enchanting country that has a way of soothing the soul. I’d love to share this special corner of the world with you next year. Cymru am byth — Wales forever! – Rogan O’Herlihy, Lead Guide
