PERU GUIDED HIKING TOURS

The Peruvian Ande’s lush ridgelines carve valleys thousands of feet deep, with tropical foliage clinging to the almost vertical valley walls, and massive glaciated summits looming an entire world away. This stunning mountain range remains among the most visually unique in the world, complete with the historic Incan ruins providing a living museum in the wildest and most remote of locations. Every aspect of Peru is enchanting and exhilarating with a distinct Peruvian flair. Whether you are exploring the bustling streets of Cusco, uncovering the secrets of Machu Picchu, or enjoying a glass of Peruvian wine at a guest lodge, Peru is the next great destination you should explore.

Ryder Walker’s Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu is our companies take on the approach to Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu has historically been approached via the Inca Trail, a route that dates to the Incans themselves. Our route mixes the most iconic moments of the Inca Trail with the quieter and more mountain focused Salkantay Trail to approach the legendary UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along the way, we get to kick our boots up in the well-appointed Peruvian guest lodges and enjoy views just out the window or off the porch of the sweeping Andes Mountains.

Peruvian culture is a bustling, colorful, and tourist-safe culture. The city of Cusco is the historic capital of the Inca Empire, a history which you can still see in its streets today, from the immaculate Incan stonework to the Incan descendants that thrive in Cusco today. While hiking along the Salkantay Trek you will get to experience all the most iconic ruins and sites in Incan history, including the gorgeous stone walls of Saqsaywaman, the hidden city at Macchu Picchu, as well as locations important to the settling and colonization of Peru that eventually collapsed the Inca Empire.

Whether you are looking for an experience rich in history and lively culture, or a true escape into the mysterious Andes Mountains, The Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu is the trip for you. It is hard not to love Peru, the country has so much depth to both its historic cities and its gorgeous mountains which due to their rainforest climate look unlike any other mountain range on earth. We welcome you to join us on the Adventure of a lifetime as we approach Macchu Picchu in the same way as the Inca did hundreds of years ago.
