French hiking is a national treasure and some of the most accessible for self-guided hikers in the world. Self-guided hiking in France caters to a plethora of abilities, ranging from easy hikes through the rolling hills in Provence, to ascending high passes around Mont Blanc and what ties all of this together is the extremely high standard of French hiking.
The French trails are well-traveled, access some of the most beautiful valleys in the Alps, and all finish in charming French villages with delicious high alpine cuisine. Our Hiker’s Haute Route travels between Mont Blanc in France and the iconic Matterhorn above Zermatt. We offer two self-guided Tour du Mont Blanc variations, the standard Tour du Mont Blanc which circumnavigates the entire mountain passing through three countries and a shorter one, the Tour du Mont Blanc Vitesse, which focuses on the stunning views of the Mont Blanc itself between Courmayeur, Italy and Chamonix, France. Our Provence: Hill Towns of the Luberon hike takes a different perspective on French hiking heading to the lavender fields and medieval villages of Provence for a much gentler French hiking experience.
